The Harbor’s core mission is to create a safe place for community - a place that allows people to hang out without the influences or temptations of alcohol. The Harbor is a place where people can shoot pool, play games, sip coffee, and enjoy another's company. The Harbor has been created for the community by the community.
Because we are a community, we want to share the experiences of those affected by addiction in the form of a letter. The letter is addressed “Dear Powerless”. Step one of the recovery process is admitting that you are powerless. Whether you are an addict or a loved one of an addict, we are all powerless over addiction.
The letter is an opportunity to be honest and vulnerable about your journey and the ways in which you’ve been and have felt powerless. We want the community to read these and realize that they are not alone; they are not the only ones with struggles; and they are not the only ones who feel powerless.
Instructions:
1. Type or write a letter addressed to Dear Powerless,
2. Be real and honest
3. Please use anonymous names for individuals mentioned in your letter
4. Stay within the word limit of 500
5. Please refrain from using curse words or derogatory language
6. Once completed, you may email the letter to theharbor55@gmail.com or drop it off at the Harbor during open hours
*Please note that if the letter is hand written, the document will be transcribed in order to be published online for The Harbor community.
